So, is there a scientific difference between “zentangles” and “doodles”?
I admit zentangles sounds much cooler than doodles! For teaching purposes, I think they are interchangeable…..we won’t split hairs, as they say.
For the next Vein of Gold class I’m assisting in teaching we will be playing with zentangle/doodles. Only a few of the folks in this class are artists, so we are trying to keep the art part of the class simple and unintimidating. We planning on turning them loose, next week, on a project similar to the pumpkin.
These are few of my past doodle/zentangles…….
Playing with doodles on letters is really absorbing and can take you to another “place”! I think that’s what zentangles and doodles have most in common….you can zone out!
Now, I’m off to link to Julie Balzer’s Art Journal everyday

I like them all, especially the awesome pumpkin!
That pumpkin is the coolest thing! Maybe my gal can try one. :)
These are zentabulous and doodle-icious! I have only done black and white but love the color...especially that pumpkin!
I LOVE this pumpkin. I only wish I could hold a pen/pencil long enough to make something this awesome, but this is one technique I simply canNOT do(unless I want to not be able to use my right arthritic hand for about a week). You have such a great talent when it comes to these doodle/zens. They are fabulous, so call then anything you like, and call me appreciative!
I just recently discovered Zentangles and I love them because now I feel as though I can doodle whereas before I thought...I'm not an artist...I don't know what to doodle....but all that has changed with Zentangles. I love your pumpkin...I hope to one day combine color with my zentangles.
Colorful zentangles are awesome I really like your Daisy.
I had a period when I was doing a lot of zentangling! I had a special notebook and would just start up and you never know where it would lead. The zoning out part is the best part of all!!! LOL.
Love the pumpkin! Zentangles are fun aren't they? I am now following you. Nice pictures!
