SPRING IS HEADING EAST.........
As much as I'm sure, it must feel like it is never going to happen......spring will happen soon in the eastern half of the U.S. too!
The winds from the west just need to do battle, a while longer with the ones from the north, or something like that. Truly, I cannot imagine how tired people are of the snow and the cold.
In Oregon, things are starting to poke out of the ground and beginning to show a little color.
Even, a bit of blue sky today!
Yesterday, I received a whole bunch of inspiration in my mailbox........
In the form of this book written by Oregon artist, Katerine Dunn. I love her style but, most of all, I love the "feeling" in her art......the whimsy and the melancholy. Touching and inspiring for me.
A peek inside, reveals......
I love the graphic "design-y ness" of her work. It inspired me to get out my very, very old chalk pastels. You doubt their age? Look at this price tag......now that's funny!
I'm pretty sure I've had these since high school and I'm not telling when that was! Haha!
This is a Gelli print with collage and colored chalk. I'm going to play around with adding more texture and detail.
I love when someone or something gets me to try something different.
I'm off to explore some new/old things and enjoy the blue sky....while I have it! Enjoy the weekend and stay warm and safe.

Thank you for this inspirational and hopeful post! Spring will be coming :)
Love your mail gifts and art! xo
You are so lucky that spring has sprung!! We're buried in snow...
Love the gelli print.
Good to know that... Spring will come. We had a tiny prespring drip that lets us know we now have a month to 6 weeks left til it shows!
And That some art supplies don't dry out. LOL
I'm one who is also confident that spring will get here, maybe by May or June (grin). I'm tired of all the cold and snow, but it's certainly good for the ground and my garden.
Love that your flowers are starting to poke through the ground. And of course, I'm impressed by that gelli plate inspired artwork. No doubt about it. You have truly mastered it.
Thank you for your kind comment on my blog post. I am angry with the teacher who dismissed your artistic talents, I think she must have been threatened by your superior abilities. I'm glad to meet another tall lady and you're right, basing my self-worth on a number is ludicrous.
I love the price of the chalk!
Oh, how I hope you're right... Spring is welcome anytime now!!! (We are currently in the middle of another winter storm! lol)
I think your gelli print is amazing an I love the sketchbook you've created in a post below...
What a beautiful piece!! I love it!!!
I have this book too and absolutely love Katherine Dunn! Love your Gelli print and the photo above of you and your family!!
