Color swap……

I have been participating in a “color swap” with five other women, simply put that means each person designates what size page she wants and what colors she would like the other participants to use….then, in rotation, we make two pages (covered both sides) in that person’s color choice and send it off.

I’ve requested fairly large pages, 8”x11”, in pink and/or orange…..my first two pages from Rita were gorgeous!  Today, I received two pages from Dianne at Art Beneath the Cottonwoods and they are beautiful, too!

The liberal use of fabric and stitching adds such a unique quality on this side of page 1.

I love the orange fabric background with the fabric overlays…..see how much the stitches add to the depth and texture.  This is the other side of page 1.

Here is page 2, a sweet old photo framed in pink and orange….detailed with stitches and a charm.

The back features hot pink and red…..more fabric and stitches.  The pocket hold a tag that is used for the artists signature and info.  This woman has an incredible sense of color!  Dianne you are amazing.

Also, in the package were some lovely pieces of fabric and this wonderful Halloween greeting!

These swaps are so much fun and inspiration!  Photos never really do justice to artwork, it almost always looks even better in real life…..each piece I’ve received has been a mini-masterpiece and soooooo appreciated.  Thank you all.

ah, so glad you enjoyed these! I did a double take when I was perusing E's blog, and noticed a familiar color combination in her blog list...the pages I sent you! thank you for posting them. I just couldn't keep from using the fabric and stitching on these. And I LOVE pink, so I had lots of pink fabric! I kept thinking of using the phrase "in the pink" somewhere on the first page, but decided against it. aren't swaps fun?!

I have been gone most of this week, so am trying to catch up. I saw these on Dianne's blog. Isn't her art wonderful? All those stitches are awesome and make me wish I could hand sew. As I told Dianne, she is going to be a hard act to follow!
