Who said we must keep learning?

For some reason, I keep learning stuff about this technological world I did not know I needed to know.  Someone suggested it was easier to build a blog page in Windows Live, so I had to try it.  We will see where this little experiment takes me!

Decided to do a little cutting back and clean up in the front yard since it was such a nice day………I’ll include a few photos (part of the Windows Live learning curve) of my front yard.  Last year, with the help of my son and husband, I completely remodeled the front yard.  No more lawn, many more plants.Yard and Emma 054 Ron and Jeff’s dug out and laid this shale walkway from the front door to my small raised bed vegetable garden.

Yard and Emma 057 I made this piece of yard art out of three metal rings that held an old half barrel together.  Simply drilled a hole on each end and bolted them together.  Then I hung a large bell in the middle.  I like it.

This is the center mound with a very small fig tree in the middle, to the left of the sundial.  Also, planted three mini, will only get 18” tall, blueberries on the mound.

There is a landscape rose, some lavender, wooly thyme and other ground covers on the mound, too.

I have many more photos but I’ll spare you………..for now.

The first of every year I feel the need to get organized! I clean out some cupboards, throw away some magazines, go through my clothes........you know, lighten up. This year has been no different except I really have been getting rid of "stuff".

I want a whole new look for the living room. I bought some really cool chairs and a lamp at IKEA. My goal is to go for a really clean look...........only problem is.......I have, through the years, collected some precious, to me, treasures. My idea of a treasure is something that is rusty, dented and has peely, alligatored paint. So, this will not be the Pottery Barn/IKEA look but something either eclectic or just doesn't go together worth a darn.

Time will tell.

Here are my chairs and a glimpse of some of our Bauer pottery collection, my old silver, mirrors and sea shells............oh, and I love little railroad buildings, milk glass, Jadite, enameled bowls and don't forget RUGS.

You might like this idea!

The magazine Cloth Paper Scissors is hosting a "pendant/charm" swap. I've always thought swaps sounded like fun but I've not ever participated in one, so I thought I'd give this one a try.

It is simple just mail one of the charms you have made, of any material, but they want it to be no larger than 1" in diameter and no larger than 2" long, 1/4" thick. There is a five dollar charge.

You will receive someone else's charm in exchange for yours which I'm looking forward to!

You can learn more on Cloth Paper Scissors web-site or the January/February issue.

Here is a photo of my entry which is made with a flattened spoon cut to heart shape, a watch case with a brass heart, a definition from a French dictionary and filled with Diamond Glaze. Under the watch case is a piece of ribbon, some tatting and a flower made from some tiny shells.

The deadline for entry is April 5, so you have lots of time. Go for it!

Drawing practice.................

I have never drawn animals. Young girls often love to draw horses and dogs, I loved to draw and design clothes for the paper dolls I drew! Now, I want to draw dogs, really! So, I spent this afternoon drawing my pal, Jack. Here's the photo I took and the drawing from it, I changed the angle of his head in the drawing otherwise his ears looked too short.

I recently made this collage for a friend, for her birthday. She loves and collects sayings and I thought she would like this one......."It isn't what's in your pocket that makes you thankful, but what's in your heart! So, true.

Well, here I am!

Staci told me I would have a blog within a year........looks like she was right! Now what do I do?
